In recent weeks, the employee General Lot and some employee Reserved parking lots at the Airport have become very close to capacity and on some occasions full. Every effort is being made to accommodate those who need to park during the hours they are working at the Airport.
The Airport will continue monitoring vehicles that do not follow the 24 hour parking rule (168 hours for crew). The police will be chalking tires and writing tickets. Employee Parking Lots are to be used by employees ONLY while working at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.
If the General Lot at the south end of the Airport becomes full, employees displaying a valid GN hang tag are permitted to park in the Crew Lot. The police have been instructed not to ticket vehicles displaying a valid GN hang tag. Crew members are expected to park within the Crew Lot
If any Reserved employee parking lot becomes full, employees with valid reserved hang tags are permitted to park in the General Lot at the south end of the Airport and by extension in the Crew Lot, if the General Lot were to fill.
In particular, Reserved Lot K at the north end of Hangar 12 has become full due to the staging of construction equipment. Unfortunately, Area 1 is too full to accommodate any displacement from Lot K, and thus anyone displaced from Lot K will have to park at the south end of the Airport.
Note that the ability of those displaying a valid reserved hang tag to park in the General Lot at the south end of the Airport is a provision within the Orders and Instructions regarding Employee Parking at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. Paragraph 7.E. states “Employees assigned a reserved parking permit may park in General Lot U or W, located at the south end of the airport if their designated Reserved parking lot is full.”
