WASHINGTON DULLES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
FINAL ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT AND
FINDING OF NO SIGNIFICANT IMPACT FOR
A NEW UNITED AIRLINES AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE HANGAR

NOW AVAILABLE FOR REVIEW

United Airlines is proposing to build an aircraft maintenance facility at Washington Dulles International Airport on approximately 8 acres of land in the northeastern portion of the airport, immediately west of and adjacent to an existing aircraft maintenance facility.  The project consists of approximately 103,000 square feet of hangar space, approximately 93,000 square feet of aircraft apron, approximately 12,500 square feet of parking and ground support equipment transport lanes, and improvements to Taxiway Z1.  The hangar is designed to accommodate up to two Boeing 767-300 aircraft or one wide body aircraft.  The apron area will accommodate parking for one wide body aircraft.

In conformance with the National Environmental Policy Act, the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority has prepared an Environmental Assessment (EA).  After careful consideration of the information contained in the Final EA, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has determined that significant environmental effects will not result from the proposed action.  Therefore, the FAA has issued a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI).

Beginning November 16 2012, copies of the Final EA and the FONSI will be available for public review at the following libraries: Ashburn Library (43316 Hay Rd., Ashburn, VA), Cascades Library (21030 Whitfield Place, Potomac Falls, VA), and Rust Library (380 Old Waterford Rd. NW, Leesburg, VA).  Copies of the final EA and FONSI are also available for review during business hours at the Federal Aviation Administration Washington Airports District Office, 23723 Air Freight Lane, Dulles, VA, and at the Airport Manager’s Office located on the baggage claim level of the Main Terminal at Washington Dulles International Airport.

The Final EA and FONSI can also be reviewed by clicking here.
